Cindy Carrillo Art n Design .com

I love to travel. But I love to come home. There is nothing like seeing the first cactus to tell my I am back in Az.

One of the ugly tasks awaiting me was reworking my website - :/   Websites can be so much work, but they are so important. For me I needed an online brochure for someone who wants to just get an idea of what my work is like. I want a guest to be able to see my background, see a variety of my work, see my upcoming schedule and such. After much time wasted I have finally worked out the bugs on what I think is my website, the way I want it. It will be expanded after the first of the year but for now it is simple and I like it that way.

Painting Colorado

The challenge of painting Colorado is the vivid greens, and the high altitude. The beauty is overwhelming. You can stand in front of your canvas looking out and not know where to start. Here are two of my favorite spots. The top scene is looking down into Boulder at the Flat Irons and the rolling hills. The other is in the Rocky Mountain National Park, where even with the lower water levels there are still streams everywhere. The shows at the Earthwood Galleries in Estes Park and in Boulder are going great with a good turnout and sales. My van has wet canvas's with lots of starts and a few completed pieces. Working in gouache as well  and really enjoying that. So many lovely old barns and corrals, leavings of a time gone by.

Colorado Shows - Estes Park & Boulder

It's that time of year again. The nerves are getting to me. Wet canvas's around the house, frames, backpack, new paints, blank canvas, ice chest set out - getting ready to go paint in Colorado. The Earthwood Gallery are my hosts for two wonderful shows. The first is Opening Night is on Friday, August 24, 2012 in Estes Park for the "Western Light Show". The gallery artists go all out to put on the best display of work with oils, watercolor and acrylics. Then on Friday, September 7th, 2012 in Boulder on Pearl St. the Earthwood hosts  the "Women of the West" show. With an exciting Opening Night with awards given out by the owners Ron and Ann Wilcocks.

PAAC Show Taos New Mexico 2012

It sure made my day to hear that this painting "Eye of the Beholder" made it into the Plein Air Artists of Colorado show this May. It is not my usual subject matter, wasn't sure if it was what the judges were looking for but apparently it made it. The show is held in Taos, NM this year and opens May 5, 2012. The Wilder Nightingale Gallery is the host this year of the show. I have a daughter graduating from ASU that weekend so I can not make the opening but I do hope to make a trip out to see the show and to paint. If you are traveling thru stop by and check out the show.
